A spirit focused course guided by NY Mixologist Katie Stipe on the fundamentals & history of American whiskey.  Breaking down the technical terminology & variances so you can better build a diverse backbar & help your guests choose the ideal whiskey for what their palate & mood best suits.  Experience a comparative tasting from Bourbon, Rye, Tennessee, Blended & micro-distilled whiskeys to open your palate to the range of flavor profiles influenced by grain mash, distillation & ageing.

The class will discuss:

  • Fundamentals & History of American Whiskey
  • Comparative tasting (brands to be determined but Bulleit & George Dickel will be included amongst a few others)
  • History of Whiskey Classics: some tastings will be distributed.  Touching on the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Sazerac, Boulevardier, Sour & Highball.
  • Expanding on how to develop new cocktails by using classic templates
  • Integrate some hands on time if it can be properly organized, probably just a handful of attendees.
