Master Sommelier, joined Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits in 2007 to lead the creation ofSouthern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits’s Asian Portfolio and Sake Division. He currently worksas the Multicultural Portfolio Director for the state of Nevada. Luis has been involved invarious start-up projects: he has had a hand in training and creating profitable programsfor the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, Pinot Brasserie, the Charlie Palmer Group, and theWolfgang Puck group. His forte is the creation of profitable beverage programs to meetcustomer needs.The Master Sommelier diploma is the highest distinction a professional can attain infine wine and beverage service. Testing is focused on the areas needed for superiorbeverage department management, which include Tasting, Theory, Practical and DiningRoom Application, and also encompasses spirits, beers, cigars as well as global wineknowledge.Currently, there are 140 professionals who hold the title Master Sommelier in NorthAmerica. Of the North American Master Sommeliers, 119 are men and 21 are women.There are a total of 219 Master Sommeliers worldwide. De Santos’ was the first of Filipinodecent to achieve this prestigious title.He is also the first Master Sommelier to pass the Sake Professional Course – Level 2 inJapan and recently passing his WSET Level 3 Award in Sake. When not at one of theWine & Sake Tasting Events, de Santos can be found spending quality time with hisfamily, championing his personal development skills, entrepreneurial endeavors outsidethe Wine and Sake Universe, and helping his favorite charitable foundation such as“PROJECT FEEDING KIDS” to end childhood hunger.
